I know I teased you guys (unless you didn’t care) a couple weeks back about the laundry room and it being done. Well it’s honestly in the same state as it was in last time but I couldn’t hide it any longer I feel like sharing it finally! Now keep in mind that we still have some serious accessorizing to do but it’s working and I’m loving it, well Todd does the laundry so I bet he’s loving it’s functionality.
Here is the before…well the after before because it was worse than this before I tore down the wallpaper and painted it.
While that was the cat room the “laundry room” was hidden in our awful and messy kitchen…which is being changed as we speak!
I don’t know if you recall but I planned on making this a craft room but of course the cats took over and the space was way too small and the table was way too high for a sewing table! Oh and we aren’t selling the house for a few years now. There was a rhyme to me reason I promise.
So once we got the new washer and dryer I knew it was a matter of time before this would turn into a functioning laundry room and trust me I was excited. Todd and Ryan spent a couple of weekends framing, doing drywall and getting things ready. I was supposed to help with this project but I was constantly exhausted, like didn’t want to get up to eat or drink and I wasn’t feeling well. Later we found out I was pregnant, which made a TON of sense! We did have to contract out for one thing, the plumber, I’m so glad we did! Had we not had him come out change a ton of stuff and rework other things we would have had a major flood in the house and I’m fairly certain it would have fallen under our own negligence so we would have been screwed!
Here is where we are today!
-
- That little sign says life is like laundry, loads of fun
-
- The bookcase we made so that we had storage and a pole to hang clothes on
My Lonely Socks and Empty Pockets boxes
-
- A Squeaky Clean box to hide our Shout, Bleach and Simple Green (don’t ask, it’s Todd’s thing) and then a cute bowl for my sheets
A closer picture, why I couldn't be straight on I'm not too sure...I'm pregnant and exhausted, neither bode well for me!
I’m pretty sure Todd never imagined that he’d be building a laundry room OR a bookcase but I can assure you he never thought he would be altering plans for a bookcase either! As soon as I saw Ana-Whites bookcase I knew what I had in mind for it, it took Todd months to see what I saw but I’m glad he did and I’m really glad he was willing to take this little adventure with me!
Obviously there is a lot of cute-ifying and knick knack buying to do. I need to paint the bar white and we plan on adding a table top of some sort so that we don’t have to worry about things falling off the sides or in the cracks. We are going to make some sort of a door so that the cats litter box is hidden and they get some sort of reprieve from the dogs who make it their mission to walk away from an encounter with as much cat hair stuck in their mouths as possible. Also, I plan on making a gallery wall back against that wall. I obviously found the sign that we threw up there just because we had it but I also plan on using this printable framed and anything else that we manage to find…
Obviously I need this for me since I have done MAYBE 10 loads of laundry in the 3 years we’ve been married. Yeah…I’m spoiled!
And in case you don’t believe it’s been useful thus far let me show you this before…

- Yes that is my head because folding laundry makes me very sleepy and warm laundry requires I stop everything and snuggle in it with Barklei, who gets in laundry cool or warm.
to this..
Which requires total productivity because unless I crawl into the dryer there is no cuddle session.
And of course with clothes being piled on the washer and dryer to saves us from Demolition Barklei who will gladly pile drive every neatly folded pile, whether there are 2 items stacked or 20.
So do you know of any images for the gallery wall? Who does the laundry in your house? Does your dog leave your laundry alone or do they too make it their mission to destroy all the hard work (okay to me it’s hard work) and time you’ve put into folding?
