Almost a month ago I had given a status update and a to do list of sorts, including a yellow dresser that some days I though would never happen. A few days after mom and I decided it was time to suck it up and tackle the beast! You may recall the dresser, it’s my grandmas old dresser and though I didn’t want to get rid of it I also wasn’t about to keep it in its current state.
Originally I was going to stain it but then came to the conclusion that I basically needed to paint it yellow! So we drug it outside and scrubbed it down, sanded it and then cleaned it up again. We did end up going with the Dunn Edwards Chickadee we had originally planned, heres the color swatch for ya!
Generally I wouldn’t have sanded it down at all but you can see there was some serious unevenness. Unfortunately thanks to pregnancy and minor freaking out (we will also blame pregnancy) I failed to take any during pictures.
Let me just say that after we primed and attempted a light even coat with the foam roller it was coming out horribly. So, I cheated and busted out the big roller and though the finish isn’t as smooth as I wanted thanks to the textured roller, it went on how it was supposed to!
Also, I had big plans for the knobs but unfortunately our tight budget didn’t have any room for any new knobs but I did happen to remember that I had bough some spray paint that would do just the job!!
From icky brass to lovely textured nickel, I’ve poly’d it several times so it has a smooth finish now to it.
I’m seriously so relieved it’s finished! Now I just need to put the clothes away and get things organized…you know so that Tenley can actually sleep in her crib not on top of piles of clothes! Seriously I LOVE this dresser though! It’s so bright and totally screams YAY when you walk in!
